MOSCA, Colo. (May 10) – Racing with the wind had to be exciting for John McCormick.
Racing against it had to be something different entirely.
McCormick battled gusts of 50 miles an hour and more, along with generally miserable weather, in winning Saturday afternoon’s IMCA Modified Challenge special at Alamosa Motor Speedway.
The victory, McCormick’s first in IMCA competition, paid $1,000 and put the Monte Vista pilot on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational.
Rookie John Anderson, stepping up from the pro stock class, fashioned a second place run and Jason Haug was third.
Rounding out the top five were pole starter Kris Asbell and Trevan Pepper.
The event was the first to be sanctioned at Mosca, which will next host Saturday and Sunday, May 24-25 events in the EQ Cylinder Heads Wild West Tour.
